A reader has contacted Newry.ie seeking information about his grandfather who was born in Newry in 1920.
David Kelly's grandfather James Kelly was born 22 June 1920 and lived in Newry. James had two brothers Edward and John and three sisters Nancy, Teresa and Sarah.
James' son also called David believes Sarah married a man called George Burns.
David snr can remember going to Newry to visit family but their location in the town is a bit hazy. As his son David explains "He believes the street was watery or began with water and was next to a main river"
It's thought that Jame might have left Newry when he joined the army. He married Mary Eleanor Barrass and settling in Sheffield where they had two children David and Marie.
The family would love to get in touch with any relatives still living in the Newry area.
If any of you have any information or suggestions that would point the family in the direction of possible leads please add a message or even get in touch via a private message us and we will pass on any information.
