Several NIFRS fire appliances are currently on the scene of a fire at the former Goss's Garage on Merchants Quay in Newry.
Smoke was spotted at the premises around an hour ago but it presently appears to have been brought under control. It's not the first time the site has seen fire damage with fire crew in attendance a couple of months ago.
The derelict premises are the proposed site for a major city centre development. Planning permission was granted in 2023 for a mixed use development including 73 apartments, office space and retail units but to date no development has taken place.
