Write a commentfirmus energy has outlined their plans to carry out work around the Mill Street area from today 27 June until 7 August.
Ciaran Brennan, town engineer for firmus energy explains: “We are currently developing our natural gas network across the province, allowing us to bring the cost and environmental benefits of this energy source to more and more homes and businesses.
“Carrying out this work in the Mill Street area will enable us to connect a number of customers in the town to natural gas and further extend our network. During this time, some lane and road closures will be necessary but we promise to work as quickly as we can and cause as little disruption as possible.
“We will start on 27 June and anticipate that our works will be completed by 7 August. We do appreciate that this is a very busy road and have carried out extensive consultation with the local Council and Transport NI. We appreciate their help in scheduling this activity so that it is carried out during the summer months when the traffic tends to be a lighter than normal to try and minimise any inconvenience.
“We will start working on Mill Street from the bend through to the intersection with Hill Street and this part of the road will be closed from 27 June to 8 July. We will then begin work again on 18 July when the inbound lane of Bridge Street from Kildare Street to the River will be closed for a week. Finally Mill Street will be closed from 27 July to 7 August between Kildare Street and Hill Street. During these closures diversion signs will redirect the traffic.
“We have visited all the properties in the immediate area and have sent them information regarding our schedule of works. Pedestrian access to local businesses will not be affected.
Ciaran Brennan continued, “We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience this activity may cause in the local area. We will continue to work with all the appropriate authorities and make every effort to ensure that any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.”
