First Derivatives have announced that their Chief Executive Brian Conlon will remain in his position while undergoing weekly treatment for a recent cancer diagnosis.

In a statement the Newry based company said "Brian will remain as Chief Executive Officer during his ongoing weekly treatment, which includes chemotherapy. This treatment is expected to last a number of months."

First Derivatives (FD) provides products and consulting services to some of the world’s largest finance, technology and energy institutions and was founded by Mr Conlon in 1996 and employs over 2400 people worldwide with many of them based in Newry.

Chairman of the company Seamus Keating will provide additional executive and governance support during his period of treatment.

“The Board has set a clear strategy and the Executive Committee, led by Brian, has delivered strong execution of that strategy year-on-year. During the period of his treatment I will provide additional executive and governance support and I am confident that Brian and his team will continue to execute the Group’s growth plans successfully.”
