Four Murdock Builders Merchants staff are preparing to each run a massive 110 kilometres within a 24 hour period, to raise funds for three charities. The challenge, called Murdock 110KM, starts at 11:30am on Thursday, 11 June and finishes at 11:30am on Friday, 12 June, with participants running 10km routes from each of the Murdock branches across the north.

The four taking part are Connor Gough, Drew Fowler, Stephen Patterson and Kevin Murdock. The challenge will raise funds for Daisy Lodge (Cancer Fund for Children), Down Syndrome Association NI and the Motor Neurone Disease Association, three causes which have had a personal significance to those involved.

Connor Gough is running in support of Daisy Lodge. He said: "Daisy Lodge provides incredible support to families going through the unimaginable. This is about giving something back and helping ensure more families can access that care when they need it most."

Drew Fowler is supporting Down Syndrome Association NI. He said: "This challenge is tough, but it's nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by individuals and families supported by Down Syndrome NI. If we can raise awareness and funds to make a difference, every step will be worth it."

Stephen Patterson is running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. He said: "MND is a devastating illness that impacts entire families. By supporting research, we're helping to drive progress towards new treatments and, ultimately, a cure. Taking on 110km is a huge challenge, but it's a small step compared to the breakthroughs that research can deliver. I'm proud to be part of something that can contribute to that."

Martin Farrell, Managing Director of Murdock Builders Merchants, said: "This challenge reflects the determination and community spirit that runs through our business. We're incredibly proud of the team taking part and the meaningful causes they're supporting."

Colleagues from across the business will support the runners throughout, helping to coordinate logistics and safety during the 24-hour period. A GoFundMe page has already raised over £2000 with all donations going directly to the three charities. Updates and progress tracking will be shared on Murdock's social media channels throughout the challenge.
