Frock around the Clock in Newry

Organised by Decadence Vintage Events, Frock Around The Clock has been a regular favourite on the Irish event calendar since 2008 and the Newry event on 11th September, taking place at Bellinis on Merchant’s Quay, will be the first time that Frock Around The Clock has been held outside Belfast.

Decadence Creative Director Becky Moore says ‘Frock Around The Clock was an immediate hit with Irish fashionistas and has gone from strength to strength in the three years that it has been running. Having placed Northern Ireland well and truly on the vintage fashion map we felt that the time was right to take the event to other towns and cities and the search was on for the ideal place to stage the event. I was inspired to bring the vintage fair to Newry after seeing all the stylish ladies at the various Newry Style City Events earlier this year and the decision was sealed when Newry received a 68% majority vote after I ran an online poll on our website and Facebook page asking our vintage fans to decide which city they would like to see Frock Around The Clock visit next’.

‘We are very excited to be staging the event in Newry and we have received great support and encouragement from local traders, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Newry Style City committee, and we are delighted that award-winning fashion stylist Katrina Doran of Sugahfix.com recently held a vintage-style photoshoot featuring local girl Orlaith Harte to promote the vintage fair. Orlaith is from Newry, and as well as loving vintage she was one of the finalists for Newry’s Most Stylish Female in the recent Newry Style City ‘Most Stylish Awards’ so she is the perfect ‘face’ for our Newry vintage fair’.

Katrina who is a Newry girl, born and bred, and both an award-winning fashion stylist and a Newry Style City committee member says ‘I've always had a love of vintage, inspired by legendary stories of my maternal grandmother Monica McElroy who never left the house without gloves and a hat and loved nothing more than to see her daughters dressed immaculately in the latest style going out to the dances in the Town Hall. I'm a self-confessed Frock Around The Clock Vintage Fair addict as the whole event is so full of glamour and nostalgia, so I was absolutely thrilled that Becky from Decadence Vintage Events chose to bring the fair outside of Belfast for the first time to my home city.  I'd spotted our model Orlaith Harte at the Most Stylish Awards and as she loves the 40s vintage style I knew she'd be perfect for the photoshoot to showcase some of the gorgeous one-off pieces that will be available to buy on the day at Frock Around The Clock at Bellinis's in Newry’.

Visitors to the vintage fair will find 35+ sellers under one roof showcasing a fabulous treasure trove of vintage and upcycled clothing and fashion accessories, jewellery, furniture, homewares, original movie posters and collectables as well as sweet treats, retro hair and beauty styling, live mannequin shows, and acoustic entertainment from the Buskers’ Den. The event is taking place in the Renaissance Room at Bellinis where the Venetian decor will provide the perfect backdrop for the vintage treasures on sale, and refreshments and cocktails will be available to purchase from the bar area in the fair. Visitors are encouraged to come along wearing their vintage best as The Quays shopping centre is sponsoring a Best Vintage Dressed competition on the day with a fantastic £150 Quays shopping voucher as the prize!

The Frock Around The Clock Vintage Fair will take place on Sunday 11th September in the Renaissance Room, Bellinis, Merchants Quay, Newry from 11am to 5pm. Admission costs £5 for adults and £3 for seniors and students.
