There's something for everyone at this years St Patrick's Day festivities.

In celebration of St Patrick’s Day there will be fun for all the family in Newry this year with events happening all around the town.

The main attraction for Newry will always be the legendary parade which begins at 1pm on Sunday, setting off from the Albert Basin outside the Quays and ending at The Mall.

There will be plenty of other events to enjoy around Newry this year like the family friendly zone in McClelland Park off Monaghan St, Roar Roar Dinosaur from the parade will be on walk about for photo-ops and fun. There will also be a chance to play Crazy Golf, dance your hearts out at the Kids’ disco, have a go on the climbing wall or catch one the amazing puppet shows.

The Mersey Beatles will also be back in Newry this year and Arts Development Manager Jacqueline Barker said, “We are looking forward to having the Mersey Beatles back in the Town Hall on the evening of St Patrick’s day at 7:30PM and there are still tickets available if anyone wants to come along and see them”. In addition there will also be a Ceílí tent which will be open all afternoon in Margaret Square with Oisin McCann’s fabulous ceílí band and Warrenpoint Comhaltas, with the dances called by Raymond Caroll, so if you want to pop in and tap your feet watching the dancers or if you want to have a dance yourself, give it a whirl in the ceílí tent, you will be welcomed with open arms. Beginners are welcome.

There will be plenty for all the family in Marcus and Margaret Squares where you can get your face painted, have a go at some of the arts and crafts activities all with a St Patrick’s Day theme.

The events for the family continue at the Newry and Mourne Museum at Bagenals Castle including a visit from the Mini Explorers and their sensory play centre for the little ones.

The St Patrick’s Day musical experience will continue with the Casino Jazz band serenading you through the Buttercrane shopping centre and Sharon Carroll’s Harp ensemble providing a beautiful atmosphere throughout the Quays Shopping centre.

The events for St Patrick’s Day in Newry are not to be missed with fun for all the family happening throughout the town. You won’t want to miss the array of activities for adults and children alike so get yourself down to Newry and join the celebration.
