A GoFundMe campaign started for Caolan Finnegan a GAA player who has represented both Armagh and his own club the Crossmaglen Rangers has raised over £100,000.
Caolan was diagnosed with brain cancer in August of 2023 at the age of 20 only days after playing in the Armagh senior championship.
The fundraising campaign was started by Gareth O’Neill who had this to say about the fundraiser “We have come together with the blessing of Caolan and his family to try and raise funds to help Caolan on his journey”.
“The Finnegan family have shown amazing strength in ensuring Caolan has wanted for nothing and Caolan is receiving the best care at all times, but now as treatment enters its eighth month, we would ask the Crossmaglen community, the GAA community in Armagh and all GAA and sports people to help the Finnegan family as they prepare for an elongated battle”.
The fundraiser has managed to raise to date £106,645 for Caolan and organisers are continuing to do everything that they can to try and help Caolan and his family in any way possible.
In an update shared by Gareth he states, “Caolan is continuing to receive his treatment in the Royal and continues to astound everyone how he retains his good spirits and great sense of humour throughout this ordeal”.
Friend Conor Deery is also holding a fundraising Bingo night for Caolan tomorrow 13 April in Crossmaglen Rangers Hall at 8pm. All welcome.
