A Go Fund Me page set up after the untimely death of Tiarnán Trainor, Killeavey and Jonesborough has already raised an incredible £55,000 just four days after it was set up by his family.
Tiarnán 13, a much loved pupil at St Paul's High School died in The Royal Victoria Hospital on 3 January 2025 following an incident involving a quad bike.
Following the tragedy a St Paul's spokesperson said "Tiarnán was a much loved and popular Year 10 pupil who was recently elected by his peers to serve on the Student Council. Tiarnán had an infectious personality and was well known throughout the school as a lorry fanatic. He took full part in last year’s Ski Trip and enjoyed a number of weeks last summer at Coláiste Mhuire Loch an Iúir in the Donegal Gaeltacht."
The fundraiser has been set up to give back to those who helped Tiarnán following the incident and proceeds will go to Northern Ireland Air Ambulance service and the Belfast Hospital for Sick Children Emergency Department and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Speaking about the initiative Majella Campbell said "Following the tragic loss of our son Tiarnán we as parents and siblings feel the need to give something back to the emergency services that tirelessly tried to save Tiarnan’s life on the day of his accident."
Majella added "As a family we watched an expert team of medical professionals across three different emergency care sectors do everything within their expertise to give Tiarnan a chance of survival. Sadly for Tiarnan and us his injuries were too severe. They treated us with respect and dignity throughout his time on the roadside and in the hospital."
