At a time of year when we all seem to be looking for ways to lose that extra weight we somehow found over Christmas, a 'Feet on the Street' initiative by St John Bosco GAC could be just the job.
It's part of the St. John Bosco GAC Healthy Club that has been set up to develop, provide and promote Health and Wellbeing programmes and initiatives for both their Club community and the communities of Newry. Their aim is to provide programmes covering Healthy Eating, Fitness and Physical Activities, Mental Health, Drug, Alcohol and Substance Awareness, Gambling Addiction, Social Inclusion and Community Development.
The 'Feet on the Street' walk and talk group for adults starts next Thursday, January 11from the Bosco Social Club on Water Street, Newry at 7pm. The walk will take place every Thursday evening thereafter and will involve a walk of about an hour around Newry city, after which the group will return to the club by approximately 8pm.
The age range of those walking and talking is approximately 40 years and above, but the club are not too strict on age, and there is no upper age limit.
If you are interested, why not drop along on Thursday evening where a warm welcome is guaranteed. It is an excellent way to get out of the house on these dark nights and meet/socialise with other people.
