Write a commentNewry and Mourne District Council and the Ring of Gullion AONB project are again looking to see your photographs of one of the most scenic areas in Ireland.
The theme for this year's Competition is ‘Why the Ring of Gullion is important to me’, which photographers are free to interpret any way they choose. This could be our Built, Cultural or even Natural Heritage.
This year, each entrant is asked to give a one sentence description of their photo to explain why the area is important to the photographer. Only photos taken in the Ring of Gullion will be accepted. The 2 categories are under 14’s and over 14’s.
The winning prize is waterproof binoculars worth £100 with the runners up receiving compact pro-tripods. The top pictures will be chosen by a panel of judges.
Photographs entered in the competition will be displayed in Newry in November and Ring of Gullion AONB events over the course of the year. The top 13 will also feature in 2015 Ring of Gullion Calendar.
Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion AONB Officer says “This fantastic amateur photography competition is a great way to showcase the skills of local photographers and the outstanding qualities of the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty(AONB). We have extended the deadline to enable entrees to take some fabulous autumn photos of the area.”
