Markethill Community Festival welcomed the BBC Radio Ulster Outdoor Broadcast team on Friday at Gosford Forest Park. The audience were entertained to a fantastic day of music and chat and even though the occasional shower lingered it never dampened the enjoyment even for one moment.

The roadshow was joined in the morning by local schools Markethill Primary, Mountnorris Primary, St Teresa's Primary Tullyherron, Newtownhamilton High and City of Armagh High who all took part in Connor Phillips' Sports Day. Collone Young Farmers also joined in, taking part in a great tug of war match and providing the mascots for each school participating in the Sports Day.

Children from Armstrong Primary Armagh Sensory Unit also joined in the games and had great fun watching and cheering on the sports day and visiting the Sensory Bus from The Big White Bus Company.

Later on, Hugo Duncan took the the stage with a host of artists including Andrew McMurdie, Susan McCann, Boxcar Brian, the Heggarty Twins, Crawford Bell, Tony Allen and Curtis Magee. Large numbers attended and it made for a great show.

Vinny Hurrell concluded the event with his show from 3pm to 4pm featuring interviews with members of the audience throughout the day.

Rural Health Partnership and Rural Transport were available to share information with everyone there.

Victoria Graham from Markethill Community Festival said "A fantastic day was had by all and it was a pleasure to bring the BBC roadshow to Gosford Forest Park as we prepare for our 45th Markethill Community Festival year. Details of our full programme of events will be available on our facebook page, Markethill Festival."

The full broadcast is also available to listen to for 28 days from 17th June on BBC Sounds app.
