Newry based company, The Rug House, organised a staff trip to the world’s leading floor coverings event in Germany last week to help bring fresh ideas into their blossoming business.
DOMETEX 2015 was held in Deutsche Messe, a massive arena which holds 466,100 square meters of covered indoor space, making it the largest Exhibition Centre in the world. Over 40,000 visitors travelled from across the globe to attend the four day event.

Managers, Paul and Clare Vallely, siblings who grew watching their father master the markets in Armagh, jetted off to Hannover on January 16. After taking time to settle in and revise over their plans they made the trip with their Chief Marketing Officer, Stephen McElrone, to Deutsche Messe. Paul Vallely admits that they were all blown away by the sheer capacity of the event.
“We carried out the appropriate research before making the trip, but when you’re standing there with it all in front of you, that’s when you realise just how big this industry is,” said Paul.
The Rug House’s reputation is clearly growing at an outstanding rate, recent successes at award ceremonies, a growing work force, and most importantly, positive customer reviews can confirm that. But Co-Manager Paul doesn’t want to be caught slacking now that things are running smoothly.
“It’s crucial that we attend events like DOMETEX, Clare and myself have been working in this business for many years now, over time we’ve realised that you’ve always got more to learn and need to be willing to try new ideas.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to do, we want to widen our range and offer something new to our loyal customers."
