Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is asking residents to share their thoughts on how it plans to improve services over the coming year.
The council has published its Draft Performance Improvement Objectives for 2026-2027 and is now inviting the public to have their say on them. Under the Local Government Act (NI), the council has a General Duty of Improvement, meaning it is required to make arrangements to secure continuous improvement in the exercise of its functions, setting targets, making plans, and following through on them.
Progress doesn't just go unchecked either. Each year, the Northern Ireland Audit Office carries out an independent audit and assessment to review the steps the council has taken to keep improving the services it delivers to people across the Newry, Mourne and Down area.
Residents are being encouraged to review the Draft Performance Improvement Objectives for 2026-2027 and submit their views.
