It was a chance to a closer look at the tourism experiences on our doorstep when Newry, Mourne and Down District Council hosted its Hidden Gems at Home showcase at Down County Museum back in March.
More than 50 tourism providers took part in the event, covering outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, food and drink, wellness activities and accommodation options available across the district. Visitors had the chance to meet local businesses directly, with everything from guided mountain walks and water-based activities to artisan food tastings, heritage attractions and luxury glamping retreats on show.

Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell said: "Hidden Gems at Home successfully showcased the incredible tourism experiences we have right here in Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark. It was fantastic to see so many residents engaging with local businesses and discovering new places to explore within their own district."
The showcase was aimed at encouraging residents to consider the range of day trips, short breaks and staycations available close to home, while also supporting local tourism providers across the district.
