Valerie Harte at High Street in Newry.

Newry City Councillor Valerie Harte has said that DFI have given a committment to carry out a resurfacing of High Street, Newry in the coming Financial year.

Cllr Harte said “After much lobbying of DFI on behalf of local residents, I am glad to have a commitment from DFI to carry out these works.

“They have said that the works should be carried out in this coming financial year, subject to budget availability.

“There have been some patch works done as an interim measure, however these are a short term solution to the long term issue."

Cllr Harte has requested that the resurfacing of High Street be made a priority by the DFI given the volume of traffic using the road on a daily basis.
