Participants in the annual Southern Area Hospice Santa Dash on Hill Street in Newry last week have raised over £8000 for the charity.
Dozens of colourfully clad Santas gathered on Hill Street on Thursday evening, 21 November, for Newry’s much-loved and eagerly anticipated Santa fun run.
Participants from 19 local businesses took part in the festive event, kick starting Newry’s festive season while raising much needed funds and awareness for the Hospice’s palliative care services.
Méabh Austin, Business Development Manager at Southern Area Hospice, said, “We have once again been reminded of the incredible enthusiasm and generosity of our local business community here in Newry.
Fiona Murray, HR Projects Manager at Norbrook also commented “It was great to take part, the Norbrook Santa's had a lot of fun.”
Over £8,000 was raised through this year’s Santa Dash events - a tremendous contribution towards the vital work of the Hospice. Organisers expressed their heartfelt thanks to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Norbrook Laboratories for kindly sponsoring the event again, and all the participants and spectators for making it a night to remember.
