A delegation of senior politicians from the SDLP recently visited the Southern Area Hospice.
The team included local MLA’s Dominic Bradley MLA, and Karen McKevitt MLA, with Health Committee member Conal McDevitt MLA and Councillor Connaire McGreevy and the visitors met with senior management, staff, patients and their families.
The delegation also had a very interesting discussion around the impact of the economic recession on charities and the forthcoming changes in the health service with the implementation of ‘Transforming your Care’. The group were able to see first-hand the high level of care provided by the Hospice to help understand the work done in this area and the lobbying required for additional support and funding.
