If a prospective visitor to Newry checked on Google while planning their trip it's a distinct possibility that they might change their mind when confronted with the best image of our city that Google can offer - A beautiful iconic scenic shot of the bombed out Newry Courthouse in 2010.
Other options could have included an image of the historic Newry Town Hall or Newry Canal, the oldest summit level canal in these island's, maybe the Albert Basin looking towards the beautiful Slieve Foye, or our beautiful Cathedral, the incredible Sands' Mill, or St Patrick's Church but no these were not used!
Newry Courthouse was bombed in February 2010, one of the last incidents in the area in recent years but more than six years later it's the image of Newry that most people will see when searching for information on our area via the internet.
Note: We did provide Google with feedback so will await with interest their actions.
