All roads and waterways lead to Drogheda next weekend for the 4th annual Irish Maritime Festival, in association with Maxol.
The Festival takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July in Drogheda Port and there’s something for everyone.
This award-winning festival attracted over 40,000 visitors last year and it’s growing bigger and better each year.
See all the off-shore action with the Howth Drogheda Yacht Race, the Inver Colpa Rowing Race from Clogherhead to Drogheda, the legendary Drogheda Raft Race and the gruelling Boyne Swim. Watch the races live on www.facebook.com/irishmaritimefestival
Meet the Viking and visit their Viking Village. Watch the swash-buckling pirates do battle on their ships. Admire the vintage lifeboats and see the customer ships in action.
On-shore you’ll find 2 Live Music Stages featuring a fantastic line up of up and coming Irish artists. Visit the Fashion, Beauty and Health zone with make-up demos, fashions and VIP style events hosted by fashion bloggers @MakeUpFairyPro and @James_Patrice.
Enjoy the tastiest treats that the north east has to offer in an artisan food zone with food, craft beer, locally brewed cider and locally distilled gin. There will be Chefs Showcases and cookery demos with TV Chef Tara Walker. Watch out for cocktail and gin making masterclasses.
There’s loads of free activities for families. Visit the Viking Village and learn to live like a Viking, take part in an archaeology dig, face-painting, storytelling and art classes etc. and of course there’s a fantastic funfair.
The Festival at Drogheda Port opens on Saturday from 11.00am to 8.00pm and Sunday 11.00am to 7.00pm. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are priced at €10.00, adult tickets are €5.00 with teens, students and seniors just €4.00. Visit www.MaritimeFestival.ie for the full line-up.
