After our recent coverage of the Young Ireland Rebels and Loyalists night in November at Riverside Reformed Presbyterian Church in Newry we received a correspondence from a Geraldine Moore from Australia who is researching the life of George Higinbotham, a relative of John Mitchells wife Jenny Verner. Geraldine is coming to Ireland in July.
If you can help out please drop us a message to news@newry.info and we will pass your details on to her

"I live in Melbourne, Australia, and am researching the life of George Higinbotham, who was an eminent and very controversial politician and [later]judge in the early days of the state of Victoria. He was a relative of Jenny Verner, and the same age as she was. They probably spent time in their childhood together on the Churchill estate at Vernersbridge. I am interested to know more about Higinbotham's early life, and am coming to Ireland in July 2011 to do some research. I see that in November you had an event on the history of this period, and I wondered if you could provide me with any leads on the Verner family members of this generation.
I would appreciate any help that you can offer.
With thanks,
Geraldine Moore"
If you missed the event in Newry you will have a second chance to see it in Carlingford from the 6th to the 14th of April. See the carlingfordheritagecentre Website for more details.
