Due to the on-going requirement to manage the transmission of Covid-19 and to the success of last year’s ‘Corporate Santa Suit Bucket Collection’, when we raised £5,000 for the Southern Area Hospice Services, we aim to replicate the same again this year!
This year’s ‘’Corporate Santa Suit Bucket Collection” is to take place on Thursday 25November between 9am and 4pm, in Newry City Centre, in the hope of raising much-needed funds for our Southern Area Hospice Services. It is expected that, like last year, businessmen and women will don their Santa suits and take to the streets with their collecting buckets, spreading some festive cheer close to our shops and retail units. This event is very kindly sponsored by local company Mac Group Ltd.
Companies are encouraged to enter one or several ‘Santa’s’ for collecting on the day, while donating £50 per Santa. Each Corporate Santa will receive a suit and sash with their business name printed on it. This event proved popular last year and will again this year; it is a fun experience which also gives great exposure to the businesses participating. The event will be featured on our Southern Area Hospice Services social media channels all day, tagging and promoting those involved.
Jane Dixon, Corporate & Partnerships Manager for Southern Area Hospice Services said “This has been another long and difficult year for many, so we’re hoping to add a bit of fun and cheer to the shopping streets of Newry on Thursday 25 November, which is Thanksgiving Day, and what better way to give thanks than to support your local hospice? On behalf of Southern Area Hospice Services, I would just like to say a big thank you to Mac Group Ltd for their sponsorship and to everyone participating on the day, thank you all.’’
Agnes Ennis, Office Manager mac-group, said “We are delighted to continue our close connection/partnership with Southern Area Hospice Services and honoured to be sponsoring the Corporate Christmas Street Collection. We hope this years’ event will once again be well supported ensuring vital funds are collected for this most worthy cause. The event was great fun last year and has long been a calendar highlight in the run up to Christmas.’’
In previous years Southern Area Hospice Services Santa event would have run alongside the Newry Christmas Charity Dinner. Due to continuing caution around the spread of Covid-19 Newry Christmas Charity Committee plans to hold a virtual event again this year and they will be fundraising via ‘Go Fund Me’ as well as appealing for toys to build the traditional ‘Toy Mountain'. We urge businesses, who would normally bring a toy and take a table, to support again this year. Further details of this will be announced by them at a later stage. The Christmas Charity Committee is once again delighted to support the Santa Event in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services.
