Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is inviting young people in Newry to join its 30 Under 30 Climate Change-Makers programme, with applications closing 24 November. Now in its third year, the programme selects 30 individuals under 30 who are passionate about tackling climate change. Sponsored by Coca-Cola HBC and Garfield Weston, with support from organisations like Invest NI, Queens University, and Danske Bank, the initiative provides leadership development from world-renowned experts to help participants become climate advocates in Northern Ireland.
Highlighting the importance of the programme Jenna Potter, Programme Manager said: "As Northern Ireland pursues ambitious targets set out in its 2022 Climate Change Act, the 30 Under 30 programme equips young people with the knowledge and tools they need to tackle the climate crisis. By learning from experts and working with peers, participants develop the skills to create real environmental change. We’re grateful to our sponsors for their support in helping us engage young people to take climate action."
Participants will engage in workshops running from December 2024 to June 2025, covering topics like biodiversity, leadership, and health and wellbeing. They will also join an alumni network, offering lifelong connections to fellow changemakers.
Tom Burke, Coca-Cola HBC Ireland & Northern Ireland’s Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director, added: "At Coca-Cola HBC, we believe that collaboration is key to driving positive change. We're proud to support this initiative, empowering the next generation of environmental leaders to work together for a more sustainable future."
