A former Lissummon man will step out this weekend as Grand Marshall in the Memorial Day Parade in his home town of Edison, New Jersey.
Memorial Day takes place this year on Monday 28 May and remembers those who died while serving in Americas armed forces. Edison is holding it's parade a day earlier, this Sunday.

Mike Meehan from Lisnagree, Poyntzpass now in his nineties arrived in America in 1950 and was conscripted almost immediately, and found himself involved in the Korean war. After returning to America he joined the 11th Airbourne Brigade for a spell before joining the Newark Police Department (New Jersey) as a Police officer where he served for almost 30 Years.
The Lissummon native is well known for his work for the community in his home town of Edison.
Mike and his wife Marge have travelled back to Ireland regularly over the years visiting the family home and catching up with friends.
