A resurfacing scheme underway in South Armagh has been welcomed by local Councillor Oonagh Magennis. The investment of over £461,000 will see a substantial resurfacing scheme of the main Newry Road.
The Slieve Gullion councillor who lobbied for the works on behalf of local residents said “This investment will see a huge improvement in the surface of this busy main route into south Armagh. The works will see the road resurfaced and drainage upgraded from the Longfield Road junction all the way to the Mullaghbawn Road junction.
“I am hopeful that other parts of the main road at Lislea will also be repaired in 2023."
Cllr Magennis concluded "“I hope that these works will go some way to improving road safety for the residents of Lislea and all that use this road."
The works are expected to last until the 23rd of December. The road will be closed between 9.30am and 4.30pm and diversions will be in place during these hours.
