A 28 year old man has been charged following the seizure of suspected Class A drugs in Newry on Friday, 8 October.
The charges including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply, possessing counterfeit currency and possessing criminal property. He is also charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug and possession of a Class B controlled drug.
Detectives from the PSNI Organised Crime Unit assisted by colleagues from Operational Support Department and HMRC seized the suspected Class A drugs with a potential street value of £66,000, following a number of searches of a residential property in Newry.
Detective Chief Inspector Hamilton explained, “In addition to the suspected Class A drugs, we have also seized a quantity of Class B drugs, 380,000 cigarettes, 160kg of tobacco, €30,000 worth of counterfeit notes and £10,000 cash.
DCI Hamilton continued “This latest seizure illustrates our ongoing commitment to tackling a range of criminality, in particular the supply of illegal drugs. We will continue to target those who profit from the supply of drugs - people who show a total disregard for the danger and the misery drugs bring to individuals, their families and our communities.
“We will continue to listen to the community and act on any information they provide, so would appeal to anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, about the supply of illegal drugs to contact police immediately on the non-emergency number 101."
