A man was taken to hospital last night following a reported stabbing at a house in Forkhill. He remains in hospital today. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following the incident in a house in the Michael McCreesh Park area of Forkhill last night, Tuesday 19 August.
Detective Sergeant Johnston said: “We were notified by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, just after 7.15pm, that a man had sustained a stab wound to the chest. The man, aged in his 20s, was transferred to hospital where he remains receiving treatment to injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
“A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was subsequently released unconditionally.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1778 of 19/08/20.”
Slieve Gullion, Councillor Mickey Larkin has warned of the dangers of knife crime in our society. saying "Reports that a young Male has been stabbed in an incident at McCreesh Park in Forkhill is very concerning. Police are at the scene. I hope the person injured can make a full and speedy recovery. Those who use knives on our streets must realise the seriousness of their actions. I would appeal for anyone with information on this incident to bring it forward to the PSNI"
