A man has been taken to hospital after being shot in an incident around lunchtime today in Newry.

The shooting took place in the Springhill Road area in Carnbane Industrial Estate.
Police received reports of a man being shot in the legs around 11.55am.
MLA Justin McNulty expressed his horror at such an incident taking place at such a busy time of the day.
"I attended the scene at Carnbane and spoke with Police who advised me that they suspected the shooting was drugs related. Victim has lower limb wounds and is in hospital at Daisy Hill.
"The get-away car was burned out and perpetrators travelled south." said Mr McNulty.
"It is shocking that such an incident could happen in the midst of such a busy industrial and business area. It's only by the grace of God that nobody was killed." He continued.
Mr McNulty concluded "Police need to pull out all the stops in an effort to ensure that further suck reckless activity is prevented. And police, communities and all stakeholders must endeavour to get to grips with the drugs issue that we all know can be so destructive in families and communities."
MLA, Liz Kimmins also spoke of her shock "There is absolutely no place in our community for guns or for those involved in this attack.
"A police operation is ongoing in the area and I would appeal to anyone with information on this shooting to bring it forward to the PSNI."
