A 30 year old man arrested following an attempted hijacking and assault in the Hospital Road area of Newry on Monday 31 January has been released pending further enquiries but he has since been charged with unrelated offences relating to a burglary in the Newry area on 29 January.
The 30 year old has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary with intent to steal, attempted theft of a vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle and criminal damage relating to reports of burglary in the Newry area 29 January.
He is due to appear via videolink at Banbridge Magistrates' Court sitting in Newry today.
