A woman has been left shaken after two youths on a scrambler attempted to steal her handbag on Martin's Lane in Newry. The incident occurred early yesterday 5 November and has been condemned by local representatives.
Newry City Councillor Aidan Mathers described the incident as "completely unacceptable" and has condemned it unreservedly.
Councillor Mathers said he had contacted the PSNI and urged anyone with information to come forward, adding that "no one should live in fear walking in their own community."
Cllr Mathers said Sinn Féin would "continue to work with the police, community organisations, and residents to tackle youth crime, antisocial behaviour, and all forms of criminal activity, support victims, and keep our streets safe."
