The need for full implementation of the South Armagh Policing Review has been emphasised by Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty.
Speaking after a meeting with senior PSNI officials, McNulty commented, "since its publication, the South Armagh Policing Review has been met with overwhelming support by our local community. Frustratingly, hard-line elements within political unionism have gone out of their way to obstruct and frustrate its implementation, so I have sought assurances from the PSNI that full implementation of the report will be delivered.

"I’m pleased to say that a neighbourhood inspector has been appointed and will be based out of Newtownhamilton Police Station. In addition to that, police have already begun transitioning away from unmarked vehicles in South Armagh, which is an important step towards normalising policing in our area.
Mc Nulty says that harmonising policing in South Armagh with the rest of the North isn’t just pragmatic policy, it is critically overdue and he stressed the importance for all stakeholders rto emain focused on implementing the South Armagh Policing Review in its entirety without delay." I will continue to press the PSNI and Justice Minister Naomi Long to ensure that this happens." concluded McNulty.
