Newry football clubs, school pupils and McDonald's volunteers have taken part in a community litter pick in and around the Damolly Retail Park area of Newry. The event, organised by McDonald's Newry, saw members of Windmill Stars FC, the Carnbane Girls Youth League and Newry High School join McDonald's Fun Football Volunteers to help clean up the local area.
The groups, who are supported by McDonald's through its local sponsorship and community activities, collected litter from around the retail park and the surrounding area. The event gave the different groups an opportunity to work together outside their usual activities, while encouraging young people to take pride in their local environment and play an active role in their community.
Gavin Doran, Newry McDonald's Restaurant Manager, said it was fantastic to see local organisations come together to give back to their community and helping to make our local environment cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.
Doran said community involvement was something the restaurant was passionate about, adding "we're proud to work alongside local clubs and organisations to make a positive difference. A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time and got involved, it was a great team effort."
