MLA Justin McNulty has called on the Minister for Communities to support funding for the Alpha Housing Development in Parkhead, Newry, following episodes of vandalism at the unfinished site. The Newry and Armagh MLA met with a local community group in Parkhead Close today 24 June regarding the ongoing issues at the development.
McNulty said he has submitted a priority question to the Minister for Communities asking what funding he will be providing to the Alpha Housing Development in Parkhead, Newry, to facilitate the appointment of a new contractor and expedite completion and occupation, in order to prevent further episodes of vandalism.
He said it is unacceptable that the development has lain dormant for so long while there are so many individuals and families on housing waiting lists.
