Local MLA, Justin McNulty MLA has called on Transport NI to carry out an urgent review of traffic safety in Belleeks after being approached by residents concerned about traffic speeding through the village.
Mr McNulty explained, "I have been approached by a number of residents in Belleek who are very concerned about the speed of traffic going through the village of Belleek. People are afraid someone will lose their life because of the speed of traffic approaching and hurtling through the village. This must stop.

"I have asked Transport NI for an urgent review of traffic speeds and have asked that consideration is given to bringing forward a traffic calming scheme for the village. The village has the Primary School, Chapel and of course the play park not to mention that there are a lot of young families living in the locality. This issue needs addressed urgently."
The Newry and Armagh MLA is appealing for motorists travelling though the village to take care and slow down and is pressing Transport NI for safety measures to be taken in the village.
