Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has praised the remarkable contribution of Deirdre Shields as she retires from the Newry & District Gateway Club after many years of dedicated service.
Mr. McNulty said: “It was an honour to join the Newry & District Gateway Club community to recognise the outstanding service of Deirdre Shields.
“For half a century, Deirdre has been a constant source of support, friendship, and encouragement to so many people. She has carried out her work quietly and selflessly, never seeking attention for herself, but always focused on improving the lives of others. What her and the amazing Gateway Team have created is a wonderful haven of happiness for their Members and their Families.
“Deirdre’s generosity of spirit, her warmth, and her humour have enriched the lives of everyone who has had the privilege of knowing her. Her contribution has left an indelible mark on our community and has strengthened it beyond measure.
“On behalf of all who admire and respect her, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Deirdre for her exceptional dedication. I wish her every happiness and good health in this next chapter of her life. Her retirement is richly deserved.”
