Write a commentNewry and Mourne ME Fybromyalgia Support Group hosted a major conference in The Mourne Country Hotel in Newry last week.
The conference gave patients, carers, family and friends a unique opportunity to put questions to a panel of experts.
Present were Dr Vance Spence, Founder ME Research UK. Dr. W Weir, Specialist Consultant in Infectious Disease, London, Dr. Anne MacIntyre plus many local politicians.
Speaking after the event Mayor Hughes said “I was privileged to open this important conference in Newry and welcome the participants that were taking part. This condition which affects many people is misunderstood by some within the medical profession and this event went some way to let sufferers tell their stories. This local group is doing fantastic work to raise awareness of the condition and explain to citizens how to go about getting help to deal with it. I know that my colleague Mickey Brady has met with the group several times and we will continue to assist them in their important work.”
