The Michaela Foundation has been selected by the Buttercrane Shopping Centre as it's nominated charity for 2014 and the Foundation will receive hundreds of pounds from a Valentine’s promotion this weekend which invites romantics to ‘have a heart’ and support this local charity with buying flowers from M&S, Buttercrane on or before the 14th of February.
The new partnership with Michaela Foundation will see a range of marketing activities and events take place in the centre throughout the year.
Peter Murray, Centre Manager said: “Every year we receive hundreds of requests from charities and we can only assist on a minor level. The appointment of a nominated charity will mean Buttercrane can offer greater support to a single organisation - working with them to support their aims and therefore have a more positive impact on the lives of people in the community and our customers.”
Michaela Foundation offers a range of programmes and peer support to young people from Newry and across Ireland, to develop their skills, personal confidence and self-belief to live a ‘life without limits’ and their key programmes include a Student Bursary scheme and the Michaela Girls’ Summer Camp.
“Supporting young people to value themselves and the contribution they can make to our local communities is very valuable and Buttercrane are delighted to support the Michaela Foundation and look forward to working with them this year,” Peter added.
John McAreavey, Director of Michaela Foundation said “We’re absolutely delighted to be Buttercrane’s nominated charity. We look forward to delivering lots of fun events for Buttercrane customers within the centre. Not only will this wonderful opportunity help with our fundraising targets, it provides us with a great way to reach the young people in the area with the aim of developing their self-esteem, talents and confidence.”
