Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has called on Health Minister Mike Nesbitt to take immediate steps to restore trust between local residents and health authorities.
Mr. McNulty's comments followed a meeting with the new Health Minister, which included members of the SOS Daisy Hill Hospital Committee and the Daisy Hill Future Group.
As a passionate advocate for Daisy Hill Hospital, Mr. McNulty has been vocal in his criticism of the Southern Trust and the Department of Health for downgrading the hospital's status. He has consistently campaigned for increased investment in Daisy Hill and for its development into a cross-border centre of excellence.
Speaking on the matter Mr McNulty said “I was pleased to welcome Health Minister Mike Nesbitt to Daisy Hill Hospital today. My message was one of unwavering support for Daisy Hill Hospital.
“I urged the Minister to focus on rebuilding trust between health decision-makers and the local community, including our hospital staff."
