Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty welcomed Newry Gateway to Stormont yesterday morning in recognition of the organisation’s 50th anniversary. Newry Gateway Club is celebrating their 50th year and it was the first time the club had been invited to Stormont.

Mr. McNulty said: “I felt it was important to try and mark the 50th anniversary of Newry Gateway in a special way, and so I extended an invitation to the Gateway community to join me in Stormont as a way to kick off Christmas week and end Gateway’s 50th anniversary celebrations with a bang.
“It was a truly special morning for all of us. To see the joy and excitement on the faces of those present, as well as the camaraderie amongst members and helpers, was so wholesome.
“The impact that Newry Gateway has made over the last 50 years has been nothing short of transformative. Inclusion is at their heart - Gateway brings people in from the margins and unites them around shared values and a common purpose.
“To be able to support this incredible organisation, even in a small way, is a huge honour for me. I was shocked to learn that it was the first time Newry Gateway had been invited to Stormont, but I want to make sure it’s not the last.”
