MLA Liz Kimmins has commended Newry and Mourne Community Transport for providing an essential service during the coronavirus outbreak.
Commenting on the group the Newry and Armagh MLA said “Newry and Mourne Community Transport already provides a key service in normal circumstances by tackling social isolation and providing equal access to vital opportunities and services.

“Now, they are playing another vital role by assisting in the delivery of food and medicine to households during the Covid-19 outbreak.
“Anyone in the community who needs help in getting supplies can avail of this service so you don’t need to be a member to call them.
“I commend Newry and Mourne Community transport with this initiative.
“I also understand that other community transport groups in the north are helping with the delivery of vital goods.
“I have asked the Community Transport Association to engage with the Department for Infrastructure to try and raise awareness of these services provided by Community Transport groups at this crucial moment.”
The group cover rural areas of South Armagh and South Down within the Newry and Mourne District Council Area. To avail of the service Individuals must have no other means of transport and live outside the town boundary.
