Following last years vote to make abortion available in the south of Ireland and it's provision from January, local MLA Megan Fearon is seeking clarification on reported charges for the operation.

The Newry and Armagh MLA has written to Health Minister Simon Harris seeking clarification on reports that women from the north could be charged €450 for access to abortion services adding that she couldn't understand the rationale of why women in Derry should be treated differently from women in Kerry.
Commenting Ms Fearon said “Reports that women from the north may be faced with €450 fee to access abortion services is concerning.
“While women from the north will be able to avail of services in the south, they should not have to pay for access to proper and safe healthcare.
"The campaign to Repeal the 8th amendment was a national effort and the Irish government must ensure that women in the north are not left behind."
