Local community and businesses have been praised for their response in the fight against COVID-19. Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady praised the efforts after it was revealed that ReGen Waste Management based at Carnbane Industrial estate in Newry had donated £60,000 of PPE to protect Southern Area Trust staff.
Mr Brady said “This is a very generous gesture by ReGen. The Company’s contribution will have a direct impact on the number of lives protected and saved within our community”.
Commenting on the ongoing efforts by local businesses, community, voluntary & sports groups and individuals in supporting others during this crisis the MP said “It is great to see so much community activism across Newry & Armagh to help those in need during this pandemic.
"Hundreds of community activists have been working across the constituency on a daily basis. These, businesses, community, sporting & voluntary groups and individuals are prioritising the health & well-being of vulnerable over their own - that is commendable. We owe them all a great debt of gratitude”.
Concluding Mickey said, “This week has again been challenging for families & frontline workers in the battle against Covid-19. I want to pay tribute to our magnificent healthcare workers for their tireless work in caring for the vulnerable." adding "By staying at home, you will save lives & assist health workers”."
