Newry is all set to embrace the festive spirit next week with lots of free family activities at Marcus Square, Hill Street as the area hosts the return of the Christmas Lights Switch On. The event takes place from 5pm to 7.30pm Thursday 17 November. It's always a great night to get out there, catch up with friends and mark the start of the Christmas season in our city.
The stage will come alive with festive musical performances from The Uplifted Gospel Choir with Special Guests Emily Flanagan, The Voice Kids Finalist and Sophie Lennon, Eurovision Jnr Finalist. The evening will be hosted by Co. Down singer Connor Martin.
On the night there will be FREE amusements, arts and craft workshops, face painting and balloon modelling. The Southern Area Hospice will also host their popular Santa Fun Run on Hill Street at 6pm.
Wrap up warm and be there in time to watch Santa arrive to switch the lights on at 6.45pm followed by traditional and modern Christmas songs.
