Dozens of Ireland's top traditional musicians and singers travelled to South Armagh today from places as far away as England, Cork, Limerick, Connemara and Dublin to pay tribute to South Armagh local legend Josephine Keegan who died 23 September in her 91st year.
They were joined by the local community and her family and extended family in the wonderful setting of St Mary's Church, Mullaghbawn with the backdrop of Slieve Gullion, a view Josephine enjoyed most of her life through her kitchen window.
Josephine's magnificent career saw her excelling as a fiddle player, piano player, composer, arranger, performer, recordist, archivist, researcher, and most important of all, as an inspiration to generations of young people from South Armagh and globally, in the purest of Irish traditional music values.
Josephine has left behind hundreds of her musical creations for generations to come and helped create and nurture a love of music for many many people, a legacy that will never dim.
