Following her selection as Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council on Monday night, Cllr Valerie Harte didn't have much time on her hands until her first official engagement as the districts First Citizen as early the following morning she was at Warrenpoint Port to welcome the guests from the USA and their crew on board cruise ship World Voyager.
The cruise ship made her way up Carlingford Lough for arrival at the port for 9am. World Voyager was the second Cruise Ship to call at the port this month and next Thursday 15 June Azamara Pursuit arrives into the town at 10am on its Intensive Ireland Tour.
The newly elected Chairperson presented the Captain and crew with plaques to mark the visit. Pupils from St Patrick's Primary School, Crossmaglen provided the musical entertainment.
