New Economy Minister Visits Women's Aid Armagh Down

The new Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald visited the Women's Aid Armagh Down (WAAD) Resource Centre on the Downshire Road in Newry last week.

The Minister heard about the vital work that WAAD does in the local area supporting women and children impacted by domestic abuse during her 5 February visit.

Women's Aid Armagh Down are currently undertaking Phase 1 of the new ELEOS Centre of Excellence for early intervention for women and young people dealing with domestic abuse and the minister was delighted to get a tour of the site.

During the visit Minister Archibald heard about the challenges around delivering funding for this project and the economic, as well as social and wellbeing benefit, it is expected to bring to the local community.
