New Enterprise Hourly Service Sees 37% Increase in Passenger Journeys

Thanks to the provision of a daytime hourly Belfast-Dublin Enterprise service in late 2024, Translink’s income and number of passenger journeys have skyrocketed thanks to a 37% increase in passenger journeys.

Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty who has constantly called for improved rail connectivity locally posed the question to Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins MLA.   

According to Translink Management Information, since the commencement of an hourly service, Translink’s income uplift increased £3.5million a rise of 45%. This growth is in line with a substantial  37% increase in passenger journeys on the Enterprise train from November 2024 to June 2025 compared to 12 months prior.

Mr McNulty said “I am thrilled to have helped secure an hourly Enterprise service which has proven to be so successful, improving Island connectivity through increased service frequency for commuters and also facilitating more tourism in counties Armagh and Down.”
