New Medical Director for Southern Trust

Dr Richard Wright has taken up the post of Medical Director in the Southern Trust 

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust appointed Dr Wright following the recent retirement of Dr John Simpson. Dr Simpson was Trust Medical Director from 2011.

Dr Wright is a former Associate Medical Director in The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and has also been Deputy Medical Director at the Ulster Hospital and is a Consultant Radiologist.

Commenting on his new appointment Dr Wright said “Southern Trust staff are well regarded for their dedication to their patients and clients. I am delighted to now be part of this team and will ensure that people continue to receive safe high quality care in The Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

In the short time I have been here, I have met a lot of staff who are providing a range of excellent and innovative services with incredible skill and commitment. 

I believe that despite the significant challenges facing health and social care, The Southern Trust will continue to be one of the best performing Trusts in Northern Ireland and I am very much looking forward to working with others to continue to provide such an excellent service to people living in this area.”
