Keady man Daniel Connolly is the Aontú candidate for Newry and Armagh in the 5 May Assembly Election.
In his Election Manifesto he has expressed support for restoring emergency general surgery to Daisy Hill, more amenities for children and young people, immediate implementation of the Albert Basin Park, expanding cross border links and opportunities, and tackling the cross border drug problem in particular.
As he has previously worked in libraries in Keady, Armagh and Crossmaglen, he wholeheartedly supports retaining local library provision and fighting for rural schools.
The son of a father from Dundalk and a mother from Keady, Daniel is a proud border man who is dedicated to removing the border.
He works as a teacher and has a passion for education and making sure our schools are well run and properly funded.
With a wife as a nurse he is also dedicated to making sure that the NHS is well looked after and that nurses get a 10% pay rise.
He particularly wants Daisy Hill not just to survive, but to thrive.
He studied History at university and has a young family. He is very concerned about the cost of living and affordable childcare.
He will fight to make sure families get the support that they need, that wages will rise in line with inflation and that government functions in a more cohesive and effective way.
He believes Stormont needs huge reform and democraticisation and doesn’t work for people.
He supports more economic powers for the North so that we can actually tackle the problems politicians too often simply diagnose. He believes that if Stormont isn’t in operation, then MLAs shouldn’t get paid, and in fact should be paid less even when they are sitting.
Daniel believes fundamentally in the right to life, and in making Ireland the best country to have and raise a child, and supporting mothers and families in that endeavour.
