The week of events for Positive Ageing Week will run from October 6th to 12th.
The focus of Positive Ageing Week is to make it a festival which celebrates and promotes the positive aspects of growing old and to assist older people to make connections in their local communities. It will also highlight the many positive contributions older people make to our community.
A Calendar of Events will be produced for this Positive Aging Week which will involve a whole range of social, recreational and educational; from film shows and luncheon clubs, arts and crafts and learning new skills, taking place throughout Newry and Mourne. Older people are encouraged to come along and try some activities. It will also let them know what is happening in their local communities so we can try to combat amongst other issues, social isolation and loneliness.
Look out for our 'Calendar of Events' which will be available from early September as lots of local businesses are offering discounts during that week.
Positive Ageing Week has been jointly organised, financially supported and supported in kind by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Newry and Mourne District Council, Newry and Mourne Senior Citizen's Consortium, Volunteer Now, Newry University of the Third Age, and the Confederation of Community Groups.
